Raid night

I am absolutely thrilled with my new 10m guild. Tribute is an exceptional guild. We’re working on GTOC10 hardmodes. We easily clear reg 10M toc in 20 minutes (one-shot!). We’re full of fun, talented players. And there’s no loot drama, at all. Everyone is a good sport and everyone shares. My healing set is looking fresh.

If I make it 6+months, I’m building a better webpage for ‘em.

Slowly but surely

new updates roll in.

Black hole

The Large Hadron Collider, the world’s preeminent scientific laboratory, performed its first successful tests today. As of 8:22 AM Seattle-time, a black hole has not eaten the Earth.

More alarming is the fact that facilities like these are not being built anywhere remotely close to the USA. We put a man on the moon over 40 years ago. What happened?

In a cigar store

Nearby my work there’s a cigar store. A tiny storefront reveals a cavernous, deserted interior. I buy a stubby fat blackleaf cigar to enjoy tonight.

Now it’s raining. Class was long. A rush of flashbacks. I’m 13, I’ve stolen another of dad’s cigars he strategically leaves out in the open for me. Danny and I sneak outside. We have a secret hill near my house, ringed by trees and totally hidden from the neighbors, yet with a clear view of the city below. It’s night. We build a small fire and roast things — marshmallows, potatoes. We eat, smoke, cough and spit. We look at the stars and lie about where we’ll be in 5, 10, 15 years.

This is proof that when it takes its time, Microsoft has the same magic it showed with Windows 3.1, XP and more. Make me almost forget how bad Vista is. Did I mention it’s fuggin’ FAST?!
